Championship clubs Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Nigeria international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo from Wrexham this summer.
The 24-year-old’s future with the Welsh club has become uncertain following the arrival of Anthony Patterson from Sunderland.
Patterson is expected to take over as Wrexham’s first-choice goalkeeper, potentially pushing Okonkwo further down the pecking order. With regular playing time likely to become harder to secure, the Nigerian is reportedly considering a move before the current transfer window closes, with Charlton and Bolton among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Okonkwo joined Wrexham initially on loan from Arsenal in 2023 before making the move permanent. He has established himself as an important figure at the club, making 108 league appearances across the past three seasons, including 39 outings during the previous campaign.
The goalkeeper has one year remaining on his Wrexham contract and could now face an important decision over his future.
Okonkwo has also represented Nigeria at senior level, earning two caps for the Super Eagles, and a move that guarantees regular first-team football could strengthen his chances of further international involvement.
